A demining team was deployed after the package was found on hospital grounds.
Patients and staff have been evacuated from the hospital and a cordon is currently in place.
Police have also asked the public to avoid the area and this is being treated as an ongoing incident.

North Bristol Trust has also canceled all hospital outpatient appointments today.

Fire crews from Temple, Southmead and Kingswood are supporting the scene.
Avon and Somerset Police issued a statement at 1.30pm: “Emergency services are at Southmead Hospital, where a man was arrested following an incident today where a suspicious package was discovered .

At 1 p.m., police confirmed that there were no injuries at the time.
