Hollywood Facility is one of only four in the United States to meet the highest standards
June 7, 2022 – Memorial Regional Hospital recently entered elite business, becoming the fourth hospital in the United States to earn Advanced Accreditation for Heart Failure from the American College of Cardiology (ACC). The Hollywood-based facility, home to the Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute, exceeded a rigorous set of criteria in an on-site review of staff’s ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients with heart failure.
Demonstrating excellence through prehospital care, early stabilization, acute care, transitional care, clinical quality measures, and more, Memorial Regional was the only hospital in South Florida to earn the designation, joining the facilities in Indiana (Lutheran Hospital), Georgia (Union General Hospital) and Tampa (AdventHealth).
“Advanced certification would not be possible without the expertise of our physicians, team members, and commitment to providing our patients with the highest quality patient and family-centered care,” said Stone Powers, CEO of Memorial Regional Hospital. “We are proud to be recognized as South Florida’s leading cardiac program.”
There are less than 60 hospitals in the country that have received ACC Heart Failure Accreditation, with the aforementioned four being the only ones in this group to achieve advanced certification. Organizations should participate in a multi-faceted clinical process that includes conducting a gap analysis, reviewing care gaps, developing an action plan, on-site review and ongoing monitoring . Accredited hospitals have streamlined processes, implemented guidelines and standards, and adopted best practices that lead to better patient education, improved outcomes, and better and more effective disease control.
Heart failure is a chronic, progressive disease in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs for blood and oxygen. Memorial has been recognized for its systematic, evidence-based, disease management protocol-driven approach that reduces time to treatment and identifies and predicts high-risk patients while reducing length of stay and readmissions to the hospital.
