February 14, 2022– JFK Medical Center is a leading facility for comprehensive cardiovascular care with a national reputation for excellence. JFK’s dedicated team will commemorate the 35th anniversary of the hospital’s cardiac program, appropriately on Monday, February 14, a day dedicated to hearts. For more than three decades, JFK has been the county’s leader in cardiac care. JFK was the first hospital in Palm Beach County to offer the TAVR procedure, and since the program’s inception has performed more than 1,000. TAVR (Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair) brings hope to patients living with aortic stenosis who are considered too high risk for traditional heart valve replacement.

JFK is also home to the Advanced Heart Care Center, which specializes in the latest advances in heart failure management, including Left Ventricular Assisted Device (LVAD) implant surgery. Patients with advanced heart failure who have exhausted medical treatments may be candidates for receiving an LVAD. JFK is the only hospital in Palm Beach County to offer this treatment option for advanced heart failure. Studies have shown that patients treated with an LVAD may live longer and enjoy a better quality of life compared to drug management alone.
