Holy Cross Health adds an internist to its medical group

December 2, 2021 – Maya Lucas, MD, who completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Miami at Holy Cross Health, has now joined the Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician group of more than 160 physicians providing services throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties.

A Fellow of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American College of Chest Physicians, and Center to Advance Palliative Care, Dr. Lucas is certified by the American Heart Association in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support. She is also certified by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and by the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative for researchers and clinical research coordinators.

Dr. Lucas has spent seven years in research and has presented at world conferences and summits. She is fluent in Spanish, French and Russian.

Dr. Lucas graduated from the University of Miami with a BSc in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Spanish and from Barry University with a MSc in Biomedical Sciences. She continued to earn her

MBBS, the equivalent of an MD in countries like Australia and the UK, from the University of Queensland Medical School/Ochsner Clinical School in Brisbane, Australia and New Orleans. Here she received the Neville G. Sutton Award in Surgery and the Herbert John Wilkinson Memorial Award in Anatomy as the best performer in her third year of surgery rotation. She then completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami at Holy Cross Health.
