HCA Florida University Hospital opens helipad

August 30, 2022 – HCA Florida University Hospital, a 165-bed facility and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the state’s largest healthcare system, officially opens its helipad.

The 3,025 square foot helipad is located on the roof of the hospital, which opened in mid-November 2021. The air ambulance landing pad also has a dedicated elevator to transport effectively patients in life-threatening situations.

“In an emergency, every second counts,” said Madeline Nava, CEO of HCA Florida University Hospital. “By drastically reducing transfer times, we gain valuable time to save lives.”

As of August 19, 2022, the heliport is fully operational and ready to accept and transport patients as needed. The opening of the heliport follows the near completion of the hospital’s 100,000 square foot medical offices. Future plans for the 330,000 square foot hospital include adding six more floors and growing to 600 beds.
