Hampshire Hospitals Charity launches fundraising campaign to improve hospital services for children and young people at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to raise funds to redevelop space at Winchester Hospital so that patients and their families can be more comfortable.

Hampshire Hospitals Charity has launched The Magic Lion Appeal to raise funds to improve child health services within Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

One of the aims is to redesign the space at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.

The association is now asking for help from the local community.

The charity hopes the appeal will help the trust meet growing demand, as well as purchase new equipment, room upgrades and decorations.

Alex Whitfield, chief executive of Hampshire Hospitals, said: “We aim to provide children and young people with the best possible care. Our staff do a great job, and with the help of the local community, we can do so much more.

“Being in hospital can be a disorienting experience for some of our young patients, so we want to make sure they are in an environment that meets their needs, whether they are being seen for the first time or come for a routine meeting.

“By raising these funds, we will be able to make a real difference to the experience of so many children in hospital for years to come.

Cath Battrick, Chief Child Health Nurse at Hampshire Hospitals, said: ‘We want to make sure that every patient seen with us feels as comfortable, safe and at ease as possible and this call we offers an incredible opportunity to do so.

“Last year we saw almost 80,000 outpatient visits, so we also need to make sure our spaces are adequate for the demand we are seeing for our services.”

The appeal will also fund improvements for children’s health spaces in Basingstoke, Alton, Andover and Alton.
