February 1, 2022 – GIA Miami, a mental health treatment facility, announced the appointment of Terry Shapiro as its new Executive Vice President and Partner, effective February 1, 2022. In this new role, Shapiro will oversee Partner Relations communities in the United States and abroad and help grow the GIA Miami and Vita Recovery service platforms to serve more people.

He will be instrumental in the growth and expansion of GIA Miami and our sister program Vita Recovery, with his significant experience in the field of mental health,” said Francesco Del Governatore, CEO of GIA Miami “Terry understands the uniqueness of our recovery programs and how treatments like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy [TMS] help patients with a variety of mental health issues,” added Dr. Antonello Bonci, Executive Chairman and Founder of GIA Miami.

Shapiro has over 30 years of experience in the addiction and behavioral health field, as well as 15 years in leadership positions in both the United States and Latin America. His career began as a certified drug and alcohol counselor and then evolved into management and leadership roles.

His new appointment follows the launch of Vita Recovery, GIA Miami’s sister clinic, which specializes in comprehensive treatment programs for depression, anxiety and several other mental health disorders. Both of these clinics are the brainchild of Dr. Bonci and CHC America (owned by Roberto Ciapparelli and Francesco Del Governatore), with the goal of providing personalized and comprehensive wellness programs for adults.

Prior to joining GIA Miami, Shapiro was a behavioral health consultant for Constellation Behavioral Health and vice president at Origins Behavioral HealthCare. Shapiro is fluent in Spanish and holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Winona State University in Minnesota and a master’s degree in social service counseling from National Louis University in Evanston, Illinois.
