November 21, 2022 – CareerSource Broward (CSBD) is encouraging Broward County employers to participate as a worksite for the 2023 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) in an effort to help prepare the future workforce- work in the region. Companies can hire a young adult to FREE OF CHARGE — a savings of nearly $3,000 per youth hired — thanks to the Broward County Board of Children’s Services and other funders.
“The SYEP program provides multiple benefits to our youth, including gaining real-world work experience and income, developing employability skills, and mentoring professionals from a variety of industries and professions” , said Carol Hylton, president and CEO of CareerSource Broward. “We appreciate employers who work with us to provide meaningful employment and mentorship to our next generation of talent.”
Young people aged 16 to 18 will earn an hourly wage of $14 and can work up to 30 hours a week between June and August. Selected youth will work in a variety of office assistant or helper roles with government agencies, libraries, community organizations, for-profits, non-profits, and more. In preparation for their first day on the job, youth will receive paid employability skills training that focuses on job readiness skills, professionalism and workplace expectations.

By giving young people the opportunity to learn on the job at little or no cost to the company, participating companies contribute to the growth of their future workforce.
